Topic: GIVING
Bible passages: Rom.12:7-9, 2 Cor.8:6-8, Mat.6:3-5
Giving is something that is very difficult to do and it is even more difficult to give in secret. Human nature likes to be acknowledged and praised. But the words below say when we give we should give in secret and not announce to the whole world that we have given. When we give it is because we want to take stress or sorrow away from a friend or family but announcing their need and how you helped is going to counteract the blessing of giving that you should have received. In Matthew 6:3-5 it says “so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Giving can be in different format. You can give time, money and other material things, it does not matter how you give, but the bible says we should just give.
But remember according to Luke 6:37-39, it is the same measure of you’re giving that you will receive. So give generously as it says in Romans12:8 it says “if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
Romans 12:7-9
In 2nd Corinthians 8:7, Apostle Paul was telling the Corinthians that they were brilliant at a lot of things such as knowledge, giving encouragement, they had profound faith but then he encouraged them that all that is good but they still need to excel in giving. “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you —see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”
2 Corinthians 8:6-8
In Luke 6:37-39 it says also tells us the reward of giving and receiving
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:37-39
So today I am encouraging you to give and show mercy to thy neighbour’s. You do not have to look far to do a good deed. Do it secretly and ask the Holy Spirit to help you keep quiet about it so you can reap the rewards of giving. Don’t give and then later complain to other friends and family how that friend of yours always needs help or money.
If you find that it is difficult for you to give, pray to God to give you the grace of giving both materially and immaterially and sit back and enjoy the proceeds of giving
